Bio: Sara McDonald serves as the director of the Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging (AAA). A lifelong resident of Lackawanna County, Sara has 20 years of experience with the Lackawanna County Department of Human Services, beginning as a caseworker with the Office of Youth & Family Services. During the most recent 10 years, she has held management positions within the Aging Department.
Her bachelor's degree is in Human Development & Family Studies from the Pennsylvania State University. Sara earned her Master of Social Work degree from Marywood University. To her role in leading the AAA, Sara brings a passion and strong commitment to advocating for and meeting the needs of individuals living with dementia and caregivers of individuals living with dementia to make her community the best place for them to reside.
