Thursday, November 7: How Do I Make a Difference?
There is a groundswell of public awareness about the impact of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. In television shows, the news and in professional journals, there are sobering numbers of persons living with dementia. It is increasingly clear that a dementia diagnosis is one of the most under-recognized factors contributing to the cost of care.

Thursday, November 14: Successful Holiday Season
Understanding dementia is one thing, truly understanding the reality of caring for individuals living with dementia is another. With this education opportunity, participants will learn how help guide care partners in achieving a successful and joyful holiday season. This includes holiday decorating, giving and receiving gifts at gatherings and adapting traditions to make new ones.

Tuesday, December 3: Finding the Right Words
The purpose of this session is for help others learn which communication skills help make interactions with individuals living with dementia positive and successful, as well as understand why certain techniques incorporated into routine help individuals living with dementia thrive.

Speaker Bio: Carrie Chiusano
As Executive Director for Presbyterian SeniorCare Network’s Dementia Care Center of Excellence, Carrie is responsible for the integration of dementia care services across the various settings that comprise the Network. This includes spearheading dementia care program development to maintain state-of-the-art programming uniformly across campuses. It also includes planning and implementing ongoing educational programs that ensure that every team member at every level of the organization has the understanding and competencies to meet the holistic needs of persons living with Alzheimer’s and related dementia. Carrie is responsible for building and maintaining strategic partnerships that can support the Network in our goal of enhancing the quality of life both for the individuals impacted by the disease as well as the family caregivers coping with the disease as well as the creation of the Dementia Care Center of Excellence: Expanding our Reach through the Center for Innovation and Care Transformation.
